Discovering CEAS
The Lucanian Apennines Val d'Agri Lagonegrese National Park is not only an area of extraordinary natural beauty, but also a laboratory of knowledge and sustainability thanks to its Centres for Environmental Education and Sustainability (CEAS). These centres offer unique educational and tourist experiences, where children, students and visitors can experience the nature, history and culture of Lucania first-hand.
In Grumento Nova, the CEAS Bosco dei Cigni welcomes those who want to discover the Park through nature excursions, workshops and historical-archaeological visits in the picturesque Bosco Maglie, with sports activities, exhibitions and events that promote the environment and the local community.
In Marsico Nuovo, the CEAS Il Castagno Reale transforms learning into practical experience, with interactive trails and workshops that allow visitors to learn about plants, animals and local history, integrating play with direct discovery of the area and encouraging collaboration between schools and CEAS centres in the REDUS network.
In the heart of a beech forest, the CEAS Museo del Lupo di Viggiano (Wolf Museum) guides visitors to an understanding of the geology, fauna and natural cycles of the park, with themed classrooms inspired by the cave and multimedia stations dedicated to the four elements (air, water, earth and fire), offering a journey that combines science, nature and educational fun.
Located between 900 and 1200 metres above sea level, the CEAS Oasi Bosco Faggeto di Moliterno invites visitors to explore the local biodiversity and the richness of the forests, with a particular focus on wild orchids, becoming a reference point for enthusiasts, researchers and visitors interested in experiencing nature in a conscious way.
In San Chirico Raparo, the CEAS Racanello offers an educational approach based on 'doing to understand', combining workshops, excursions and practical activities that allow visitors to observe local flora, fauna, history and traditions, stimulating a sense of belonging and environmental curiosity.
In the village of Sasso di Castalda, CEAS Vecchio Faggio combines nature, history and craftsmanship, with excursions through woods and historic centres, visits to castles and tastings of typical products, involving visitors of all ages in educational experiences that combine learning, play and discovery of the local area.
Finally, in Brienza, MuLabo – Basilicata Culture Hub is a cultural and environmental centre where workshops, excursions and educational courses allow visitors to deepen their knowledge of biodiversity, local traditions and history, promoting sustainability and creativity as tools for personal and collective growth.
