This route is one of the most evocative and rich in history. It starts from the nineteenth-century church dedicated to Maria SS. della Rupe, where the effigy of the Madonna is kept from August to May. Continuing along the narrow streets of the historic centre, you reach the clock tower (formerly the bell tower of the Mother Church of San Lorenzo, destroyed by the earthquake of 1857) with a panoramic viewpoint on the tower itself, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking 360° view of the entire valley. Trails in the Municipality of San Martino D'Agri

Starting from the stunning Murgia di Sant'Oronzio, the most characteristic natural environment of the PNAL, you will reach the horizontal water mills located on the Trigella stream just below the village of San Martino d'Agri. The route, which crosses the entire Murgia massif, allows you to observe the most characteristic bird species of the Lucanian Apennine Park, such as: Egyptian vulture, red kite, black kite, griffon vulture, golden eagle, lesser spotted eagle, black stork, harrier, tawny owl, owls, and many other birds. There are also many species of mammals such as wolves, deer, badgers, wild cats and more. Going up the Agri river for a couple of kilometres, you will reach the remains of the mills. The ancient wooden statue of the Madonna della Rupe, which legend says was found by chance by a deaf-mute shepherd in a ravine (hence the name Madonna della Rupe), is placed inside a finely crafted display case. is carried in procession on the last Sunday in May from the Church of Maria SS. della Rupe to Monte Raparello, where there is a chapel, a gift from emigrants in 1908, also dedicated to the Madonna. This hike was designed to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Potenza section of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI). Inaugurated in 2010, it winds along the slopes of Mount Volturino, which, at an altitude of 1,835 metres, is one of the highest mountains in the Lucanian Apennines Val d'Agri Lagonegrese National Park.
The excursion starts from the Copone di Marsicovetere spring, known for its mineral-poor waters, and climbs towards Tuppo delle Seti, where, after crossing a meadow, you enter the beech forest that leads to the Piano dell'Imperatore plateau, where you can admire the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Assunta. From the small mountain church, crossing the beech forest, we reach the highest peak of the Volturino complex at 1,836 metres. Download the GPS track

Starting from Lake Sirino, you pass by the springs that feed it - where you can fill up with water from a spring - gaining a few dozen metres in altitude to reach the former Calabro Lucano railway line, now a cycle path and part of the "Regional Trail Network" (trail no. 660).
